The annual October Mission Drive begins Sunday, October 5th! Historically, the months of March and October serve as two concentrated opportunities to spotlight, celebrate, and intentionally support the work of the Gospel among our global missions network. This is always a meaningful time to connect our local churches with the worldwide body of Christ.

October Mission Drive is designed to raise awareness of what the Holy Spirit is doing throughout our mission network and to provide a focused opportunity to invest in ministries that carry the gospel to the nations.

One of the most striking features of Jesus’ earthly ministry was His unwavering determination to stay On Mission. In Luke 4:18-19, we hear His first public declaration as He read from the prophet Isaiah in the synagogue of Nazareth. In many ways, this passage serves as His mission statement —revealing His divine anointing and supernatural empowerment.

From this early declaration (Isaiah 61:1-2) to His triumphant cry of “It is finished” from the cross (John 19:30), Jesus lived every moment with a clear focus on fulfilling the Father’s purpose. For Him, being On Mission was not merely a task but the very heartbeat of His life—the fulfillment of prophecy and the ultimate victory in the redemption of humanity.

Jesus’ steadfast focus is both a testimony and a template for us as His disciples. Luke 19:10 summarizes His mission simply: “to seek and to save the lost.” His commitment was inclusive, restorative, and sacrificial. Just as He faithfully fulfilled His mission, we are called to embrace the Great Commission and live with the same clarity of purpose.

Though this world offers many distractions and competing priorities, Jesus shows us the power of obedience and submission to God’s plan. He invites us to examine our own lives, align with His purpose, and stay On Mission—trusting in God’s call and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
