Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently. As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, MOSES SPOKE AND THE VOICE OFGOD ANSWERED HIM. The LORD descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up…” (Exo19:17-20)

Oh, what a glorious event, the creator of all things the wonder, awesome and most powerful GodCOMING DOWN TO SPEAK TO HIS PEOPLE! So, how did they respond? When the people saw the thunder and lightningTHEY TREMBLEDWITH FEARand said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But DO NOT HAVEGOD SPEAK TO US OR WE WILL DIE.” (Exo. 20:18-19)

Why were the people so very afraid? The Palmist tells us, Israel DID NOT BELIEVE IN GOD, and did not trust in His salvation…” (Psa. 78:21-22) This is why the Lord inspired the writer of  Hebrews to say, “…WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TOPLEASE GOD, for he who comes to God MUSTBELIEVE THAT HE IS and that HE IS AREWARDER of those who diligently seek Him. (Heb. 11:6)

DEAR LORD, PLEASE HELPOUR UNBELIEF
