1 Timothy 5:17 says, “The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.”

Today, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the men and women who serve as pastors in the Church of God of Prophecy. Far too often, these servants of God go unrecognized and uncelebrated; yet, their assignment is one of the most important ever given—the spiritual well being of God’s people. These men and women prayerfully and faithfully deliver truth from God’s Word, seek opportunities to lead the lost to Christ, make themselves available to minister to the hurting, visit the sick, and so much more.

Our pastors and their families often give sacrificially of themselves and their resources so that we can receive multiple blessings that come from their ministry. That’s why we have set October aside as Pastor Appreciation Month.

Throughout this month, I am asking you to make a special effort to express your appreciation to your pastor. Think of ways to affirm him or her, either through your words, gifts, or special offerings. Make or renew a commitment to pray for your pastor and their family every day for the upcoming year. You will never know just how much your kindness and prayers will minister to these gifted leaders.

Linda and I join a grateful church in saying “thank you” to our pastors throughout the global ministries of the Church of God of Prophecy. We are praying that God will richly reward you for your faithful service to His people. May He renew your strength, courage, and commitment as you continue to pursue His call in your life.

Bishop Sam Clements,

General Overseer for the Church of God of Prophecy
