CHURCH of GOD of PROPHECY
INTERNATIONAL OFFICES CORPORATE BOARD
CLEVELAND, TN
Date: March 27, 2020

To: International Presbytery of the Church of God of Prophecy
lol From: Church of God of Prophecy Corporate Board
Subject: 2020 International Assembly

We currently find ourselves facing an unprecedented global crisis. COVID-19 cases are being reported in approximately 200 nations resulting in travel restrictions, business closures, and home quarantines. Food supplies have been stretched, medical supplies limited, and the economic impact on businesses, families, and churches has been dramatic. The virus has prompted several nations, including the United States, to suspend routine visa services.

New cases of COVID-19 are still being reported. Once the number of cases begin to decrease, it may take months for families and communities to fully recover. We would gladly change things, but we find ourselves faced with circumstances beyond our control. These circumstances have forced us to consider a decision that we would have preferred to avoid.

After dialogue, prayerful consideration, and consultation with the Biblical Doctrine & Polity Committee as well as the Finance & Stewardship Committee, the Corporate Board has unanimously agreed to cancel the 2020 International Presbytery Meeting scheduled for July 4–7, 2020, and the International Assembly scheduled for July 8–12, 2020. This decision is not unprecedented as the Assembly was cancelled in 1918 due to a flu pandemic.

It is with deep regret and heavy hearts that we come to this decision. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by this ongoing pandemic. We look forward to gathering for the 101st International Assembly in July 2022. The date and location will be announced in the near future.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

In Christ,

Paul Holt Corporate Secretary
