Gifts of the Holy Spirit

[We should be aware of the spiritual gifts and where these gifts come from, and for what purpose they are given. That each one of us may serve the Church in the capability in which God has placed us, that there may be no misunderstandingsand no division in the body.]

“Now about the GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.” (1 Corin. 12:1)

[Gracious gifts, all producing miraculous results; such as the gift of prophecy, speaking different tongues, and so on. These all come by the astonishing anointing of the Holy Spirit. Various offices in the Church, such as apostle, prophet, and teacher; the qualifications for such offices, as well as the appointments themselves, coming immediately from our one Lord Jesus Christ. Miraculous influences exerted on others; the healing of different diseases, raising the dead, etc.: all these proceed from the Holy Spirit!]

“There are DIFFERENT KINDS OF GIFTS, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are DIFFERENT KINDS OF SERVICE, but the same Lord. There are DIFFERENT KINDS OF WORKING, but in all of them and in everyone it is THESAME GOD AT WORK.” (1 Corin. 12:4-6)

[The manifold wisdom of God, wherever needed, by the knowledge from God, we may understand mysteries!]

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit IS GIVEN FOR THE COMMON GOOD. To one there is given through the Spirit a MESSAGE OF WISDOM, to another A MESSAGE OFKNOWLEDGE by means of the same Spirit…” (1 Corin. 12:7-8)

[Miraculous faith by which we could remove mountains, the power which at times we received from the Holy Spirit to cure any disease!]

“…to another FAITH by the same Spirit, to another GIFTS OFHEALING by that one Spirit…” (1 Corin. 12:9)

[A gift to discern a false miracle from a true one, the ability to speak different languages, which we never learned, being able to immediately interpret what was said to that part of the congregation that did not understand the language!]

“…to another MIRACULOUS POWERS, to anotherPROPHECY, to another DISTINGUISHING BETWEENSPIRITS, to another SPEAKING IN DIFFERENT KINDS OFTONGUES, and to still another the INTERPRETATION OFTONGUES.” (1 Corin. 12:10)

[These gifts worked by the Holy Spirit are all for God’s glory, not ours!]

“All these are the work of ONE AND THE SAME SPIRIT, and he distributes them to each one, JUST AS HE DETERMINES…Now EAGERLY DESIRE THE GREATER GIFTS…” (1 Corin. 12:11, 31)

LET’S BE YIELDED TO GOD AND DESIRE TO BE USED OF GOD FOR THE BUILDING UP OF THE BODY OF CHRIST!
